AI built for marketers.

Predict, create, and optimize — without waiting on data, dev, or design.

Why it matters:

In reading this article, marketers will learn how to move from campaign planning to execution more efficiently using Claude and the Optimove MCP . This article shows how to access customer data, identify relevant audiences, uncover preferences, create personalized content, and prepare a campaign for review, all through natural-language prompts in Claude. Marketers will understand how to reduce manual work, connect customer insights to campaign creation, and maintain control over final review and activation.

Key takeaways:

  • Optimove MCP connects Claude and other AI tools directly to Optimove, allowing marketers to work with customer data and campaign capabilities through natural language
  • A strong prompt should define the desired outcome, the audience, and enough context for Claude to understand what should happen next
  • Claude can use Optimove data to identify a relevant audience and explore customer attributes and preferences
  • The MCP can create campaign building blocks and prepare drafts in Optimove for marketers to review and edit

What Is the Optimove MCP?

The Optimove MCP is a connection between Optimove and external AI tools including Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Amazon Kiro, VS Code, and Cursor.  It allows marketers to access Optimove customer data from inside the AI tool itself.

In practice, a marketer can ask Claude to analyze customer attributes, identify an audience, create campaign components, and prepare work inside Optimove without manually recreating each step in the platform. Optimove currently supports Claude Web and Desktop, among other MCP-compatible tools.

The Optimove MCP is part of Optimove AI, the foundation for the Positionless Marketing era, powering marketing work inside the platform with native agents, outside via external AI tools, and on top through AI-built custom applications. It's the only marketing AI suite that covers all three layers.

This extends the idea behind Positionless Marketing beyond the platform itself. The marketer can start with a business question in Claude and move toward execution from the same conversation, rather than treating strategy, data analysis, segmentation, and campaign creation as disconnected tasks.

How to Build a Campaign using the Optimove MCP  connected to Claude?

In Claude, marketers can open Settings, go to Connectors, add Optimove, and complete the Optimove authentication flow. Once connected, Optimove can be enabled from the connector menu within a Claude conversation.

Step 1: Build your prompt

The campaign starts with a clear, specific prompt. The best prompts are specific about:

  • Business objective and outcome
  • Customers that should be involved
  • Output expected from Claude

“Find customers at risk of churn” can generate useful analysis. But “find high-value customers at risk of churn, identify their category preferences, create personalized email content, and prepare the campaign for review” gives Claude a complete workflow to execute.

Use the example below as a base:

“Build a retention campaign for high-value customers at risk of churn. Identify the audience and its category preferences, draft a personalized email based on the leading preference, and prepare the campaign in Optimove for review.”

Step 2: Define the Result You Want

In the example above, the objective is not simply to “find high-value customers.” It is to create a retention campaign for high-value customers who are at risk of churn

That distinction matters. A clear business outcome gives Claude context for the audience it needs to find, the customer information it should investigate, and the campaign it ultimately needs to prepare.

Step 3: Let Claude Map the Audience

Once the objective is clear, Claude can use the Optimove connection to work through customer attributes and identify customers who match the requested criteria.

In the campaign demonstrated by Optimove, Claude identified 827 high-value customers at risk of churn

Instead of requiring the marketer to manually determine which attributes or conditions should define that audience, the request begins with the business question. Claude works with the customer information available through Optimove to translate that question into an actionable audience.

This is one of the central benefits of using MCP for campaign building: marketers can start from who they want to reach and why, rather than from the mechanics of constructing a segment.

Step 4: Identify Relevant Customer Preferences

Audience creation is only part of the workflow. Claude can also use customer information to understand what may be relevant to that audience.

In the example, the prompt explicitly asks Claude to identify the audience's category preferences and use the most relevant category as the basis for the email. That gives the creative task customer context before the message is written.

Step 4: Create Personalized Email Content

Using the audience insights and category preferences, Claude creates the email as a template inside Optimove.

The marketer can then review the content, continue editing it, or approve it. The progression is important: customer intelligence informs segmentation, segmentation informs personalization, and personalization informs campaign creation.

The marketer does not need to manually carry that context from one stage to another.

Step 5: Prepare the Campaign inside Optimove's Platform

After identifying the audience and creating the email template, Claude can bring those elements together and prepare the campaign inside Optimove's platform.

The campaign arrives as work to be reviewed rather than an automatically executed marketing action. The Optimove MCP uses constrained write capabilities to create campaign building blocks and drafts, while final activation remains under marketer control.

Step 6: Review and Approve the Campaign

The marketer remains responsible for reviewing the campaign and deciding whether it should go live.

This makes the workflow useful for real campaign operations. AI can handle much of the movement from question to audience to content to campaign preparation, while the marketer retains control over the final result and activation.

From AI Assistance to Positionless Execution

The bigger change introduced by the Optimove MCP is not simply that Claude can answer questions about customer data. It is that a marketer can move substantially further from a question toward execution, changing environments only for approving and triggering the campaign.

A retention idea can begin as a natural-language request. Customer data can define the audience. Preferences can inform the creative. The resulting template and campaign can then be prepared in Optimove for human review.

That is Positionless Marketing applied to the AI workspace: giving marketers the Data Power, Creative Power, and Optimization Power to move across traditionally separate marketing tasks more independently and immediately.

The AI environment becomes more than a place to brainstorm what the campaign should be. It becomes another place from which marketers can actually build it.

In Summary

The Optimove MCP turns Claude from a place where marketers discuss campaign ideas into a place where those ideas can begin moving toward execution. Starting with a clear prompt, marketers can identify audiences, use customer insights to guide personalization, draft campaign content, and prepare the resulting campaign in Optimove for review.

That means less effort translating an idea from one system into another and a more direct path from customer intelligence to action — while marketers remain in control of what ultimately goes live.
