Optimove Pulse. The iGaming Industry Benchmark Tool

Why it matters:

This iGaming Pulse Report comparison shows whether casino revenue performance is being fueled by a growing player base or by existing players alone. Marketers can use these signals to recalibrate acquisition and lifecycle investment by region.

Key takeaways:

  • US casino bettor growth trended down for most of the year, bottoming at 66% in Feb 2026 before a modest rebound.
  • Global casino player activity stayed above baseline nearly the entire period, peaking at 116% and indicating greater stability.
  • March 2026 showed improvement in both markets, with the US rising to 75% and global to 105%.
  • The US appears less supported by player base expansion compared to the global benchmark.
  • Trailing averages reinforce the gap: US at 82% vs. global at 108%.

This analysis examines key performance indicators in the online gaming sector, comparing the United States market against the global market. The data is based on a 12-month average of 3.2 million active players per month in the US and 21 million globally. The period analyzed spans from March 2025 to March 2026.

US vs. Global: Casino Bettors Growth Trend

The data compares changes in the number of active casino bettors over the past 12 months in the US versus the global market, indexed to a 100% baseline.

After starting at baseline, the US gradually trended down, bottoming at 66% in February 2026 before recovering modestly. The global benchmark, on the other hand, remained above baseline for almost the entire period, reaching 116% at its strongest points, indicating more stability in casino participation.

In the latest month, the US increased from 66% in February to 75% in March 2026, while the global benchmark moved from 103% to 105%. The key conclusion is that US casino monetization may still be strong, but it is not being supported by player base expansion.

3 Recommendations for Operators Based on This Data

See three strategic recommendations below:

  1. Prioritize acquisition campaigns in the US Market: With US active bettor counts trailing the global benchmark by 30 percentage points and a 12-month average of just 82%, organic player base growth is not keeping pace. US operators should increase top-of-funnel acquisition spend, explore new marketing channels, and test broader audience targeting.
  2. Protect and expand value from the existing US player base: Since monetization may be holding without broad player expansion, prioritize lifecycle programs that increase frequency and longevity: early “first-to-second deposit” journeys, 7/14/30-day reactivation flows, and VIP/loyalty triggers based on declining activity signals.
  3. Use global benchmarks to set realistic performance targets. With global markets staying above baseline (105% in March; 108% trailing average), operators with multi-region brands should rebalance growth investment toward markets showing stronger participation—while using the global trend as a reference point for what “healthy growth” can look like.

In Summary

The March 2026 iGaming Pulse data sends a clear message to US casino operators: The market is not growing its player base, and that gap versus the global benchmark is too wide to ignore.

The path forward requires deliberate action on both ends of the funnel: Acquisition campaigns to rebuild the player base, and ongoing retention strategies to properly treat players already engaged.

Operators who use this data will be best positioned to close the gap with global competition and build a more resilient US casino business heading into the remainder of 2026.
